This item is temporarily unavailable el capitan reinstall software
Hey Mac Tech's.
Firstly, Im a long time intermediate Windows user with little knowledge on the Mac systems. so any help and clear direction would be great.
Back story- I recently purchase a secondhand 2007/8 Mac PC that was running El Capitan OS X, for my wife as she is about to start Uni again.
My first instinct was a fresh install, to clear any old stuff from the previous user. I don't have any OS Disks, So with a bit of googling and went ahead with the process.
I was able to clear the main HD (Macintosh HD) and everything was good until i went to re-install.
The Issue: When trying to reinstall the El Capitan OS X though the OS X Utilities. I am getting a 'This item is temporarily unavailable, try again later' message, after signing in with my apple ID (which i had from ipads).
What i have tried:
1. Change the date through Terminal to 2016. - Failed
2. Get help online and log into iCloud on the Mac, then go back and try to install. - Failed
On another note - all attempts to use internet boot install (CMD, Option, R) have failed. i think this may be due to using a wireless keyboard and it not syncing until after the Mac has 3/4 loaded.
I also do not have access to any other Mac system.
Any help or guidance would be great.
Burjo

Trying To Reinstall Os X El Capitan This Item Is Temporarily Unavailable

Something I'm trying to do at the moment. I don't often use macs but i'm trying to fix one that needs an OS reinstall, but only have a windows machine to do it on. I'm looking at tutorials online but I can't seem to find a Mac OS Image file online, Id rather avoid torrents if at all possible. Once you’ve done that, here’s how to install, reinstall, or upgrade to El Capitan, step by step: Boot from your Recovery HD partition by restarting your Mac while holding down the Command+R keys. The OS X Utilities window appears. Select Reinstall OS X, and click Continue. The OS X El Capitan splash screen appears. Internet Recovery mode is available on any Mac newer than 2010 models, so neither of your 'new' Macs are new enough for that. I suspect that the iMac is a mid-2007 model (which would originally have shipped with 1 GB of RAM (newer ones would have come with more RAM installed) The latest OS X system for that one is OS X 10.11.6 (El Capitan). I held down COMMAND + R, went to Disk Utilities and unmounted then erased the harddrive. Then I went to reinstall mac os. It was on El Capitan. It asks me to connect to WiFi, I do. Then after a few clicks it asks to login Apple ID. After I try to do that, it says This Item is Temporarily. I did already I message said this item is temporarily unavailable. Then you can upgrade to 10.11 El Capitan using. Pressing CMD/R and choosing reinstall.
